In this article, I would like to explain how to use Performance Tresure Map (PTM)

Knowing Yourself

The first application is “Self-analysis.”

By creating a PTM, the following experiences become possible:

①The necessary objectives for oneself become clear (defining performance).

②By classifying and breaking down objectives, a clear pathway to performance improvement emerges.

What’s important is that during the process of creating the PTM, you can understand the objectives and the factors and elements needed to achieve them.

At the same time, it becomes incredibly clear which factors and elements you understand deeply and which ones you have only a superficial understanding of.

This is what self-analysis through PTM enables.

Unpacking the Factors and Elements that Constitute Objectives

The second application is the deepening of understanding of the pathway (factors and elements) to reach a performance target (objective) that you set at will.

Moreover, this does not merely mean acquiring fragmented knowledge and skills; it entails the acquisition of knowledge and skills with a purpose.

I call this “Meaningful Segmentation.”

【Meaningful Segmentation】
▶ By delving into factors and elements with purpose, an integrative approach becomes possible rather than a reductive one.
▶ It allows for giving greater significance to specialized knowledge, skills, and products.

I believe that trainers, coaches, and athletes themselves can find value beyond the categorized elements and deepen their understanding through meaningful segmentation.

The Original K-Map (K-Map) provide this meaningful segmentation based on principles and evidence. Additionally, visual information is provided through videos (the availability and number of videos vary by map).

Integrated segmented elements for an approach

The third application is the ability to gain an overview of the factors and elements that have been meaningfully segmented.

It allows for the expansion of the entire map to see how each factor and element is related.

For example, in the K-Map for“Jumping Ability,” you might see connections like“Muscle Function – Muscle Cross-Sectional Area” and “Physical Characteristics/Functions – Muscle Mass – Protein.”

Example of the relationship between physical characteristics and muscle function: This merely illustrates a portion of the connections, as the true relationships and interactions are extensive.

This is just one example, but such connections become visible precisely because of meaningful segmentation.

By understanding these connections, I believe a more efficient approach becomes possible.

Moreover, when athletes utilize this, they should feel an overwhelming sense of benefit, realizing, “What I’m currently doing connects to this and that!”

Of course, beyond those connections lies a treasure (a performance goal defined by the individual).

Sharing Common Language and Providing Visual Guidance

The fourth application is that it enables to have a common language between trainers, coaches, and athletes.

When discussing the greatest inventions in human history, one topic that always arises is language(words)(note: there are various opinions on the greatest invention).

I believe that possessing a common language dramatically boosts training efficiency and is crucial for advancing theoretically.

Additionally, due to the digital nature of PTM, it allows for easy sharing of this common language anytime with just a mobile device.

Furthermore, by creatively expanding the map, it becomes possible toprovide visual guidance like the following:

① Expanding only the map that should primarily be focused on (making current tasks clear).
② Closing the maps that already acquired (the remaining maps become future tasks).
Example of 1: It becomes clear what current tasks are and what they connect to.

Those who have purchased the K-Map likely understand that MindMeister, MindMeister allows for shared individuals to freely expand the map.

In this way, PTM and K-Map have various utilization methods.

I hope this new concept (PTM) and the map of beginnings (K-Map) reach many people.
